DRUG ENFORCEMENT: A stand against The erosion of our community
As a former undercover cop – tasked in drug enforcement – it is no surprise that I am not a supporter of legalized marijuana or other drugs. For 6 years, I saw, first hand, the devastation drugs bring to families and young people. Alcohol is a big enough problem in our society, and I feel that we really do not need another substance to undermine our society and our children. Our county – like many other places in the West – is struggling with methamphetamines, opioids, and most recently, an incredible influx of Fentanyl. While it may not seem like it to many, especially to those who are new – our area of the country has long been a strong corridor for this trafficking.
I am in favor of strict controlled substance enforcement, which, in my observation, is clearly not happening in our county. Archuleta needs to seek additional assistance from the state and federal levels, work with federal agencies, and commit to fighting back against the flow of illegal drugs through our schools and neighborhoods.
Ethics Matter. Character Counts.
